Use cases · Clipboard history

Keep the useful snippet and the source it came from

Clipboard history helps recover something you copied. Savebase helps you deliberately keep a passage you want to use again, with the original webpage attached. It does not monitor your clipboard or record everything you copy. If your goal is a lasting collection of quotes, explanations or research excerpts, saving selected web text with a note makes those snippets easier to understand later.

Put your saves to work

A practical clipboard history workflow

Save selected text ↗

Capture a passage while reading

Select the useful text on a webpage, right-click and choose Save highlight to Savebase. The extension saves the selection as content with the page URL. This is useful for a definition, a quotation or a product requirement you want to revisit. Choose the passage deliberately so your library contains material you intend to keep rather than every temporary copy action.

Notes ↗

Add the context a copied sentence loses

A quote alone rarely explains why it mattered. Add a bookmark note with the source date, project and intended use. For a comparison, record which product or version the passage describes. For a quotation, retain enough context to check the author's meaning. Searchable notes let you find the reference by the reason you saved it.

Folders & tags ↗

Build a reusable snippet collection

Put the saved sources in a folder such as Writing references, with tags for definitions, examples and quotes. Review the original webpage before using a passage in published work. Keep drafts and reusable text blocks in your writing tools, and use Savebase for the source collection that supports them. This makes retrieval part of a repeatable research habit.

What to expect from this workflow

For recovering unsaved copied text or keeping a system-wide clipboard log, use a clipboard-history tool. Savebase captures selected web text deliberately; it does not recover your earlier clipboard entries.

Ordinary web links, notes and manual organization are available on Free. This workflow does not require AI or clipboard permissions.

Questions about clipboard history

Does Savebase have automatic clipboard history?

No. Savebase does not record copy events, monitor your system clipboard or recover previously copied text. You choose what to save through the extension and keep it with a source URL and bookmark note.

How can I keep a copied web quote for later?

Select the quote on its original webpage and use Save highlight to Savebase from the right-click menu. Add a note explaining its intended use. Reopen the source to check context and attribution before quoting it.
