Use cases · Web highlighter

Keep the passage that matters with its original webpage

Sometimes you need one paragraph more than the whole article. Savebase lets you select web text and save it with the page URL through the extension's context menu. Add a note about the idea or decision it supports and file it beside related references. This captures the passage as saved content; it does not paint persistent colored highlights onto the original webpage.

Put your saves to work

A practical web highlighter workflow

Save selected text ↗

Save the useful selection

Select a paragraph or sentence while reading, right-click and choose Save highlight to Savebase. The selected text is captured as content and the source URL remains attached. Choose enough surrounding text to preserve the meaning. A definition, important caveat or short explanation can then be part of the same collection as articles and social references about the topic.

Notes ↗

Explain why the passage belongs in your work

Add a note about the question the selection answers and how you might use it. Keep your interpretation distinct from the author's wording. Record the date, version or population when those details matter to the claim. Return to the original webpage before quoting the passage, since saved text alone may leave out qualifications in the surrounding article.

Folders & tags ↗

Group excerpts around a research question

Put the saved sources into a project folder and add tags such as definition, evidence and counterpoint. Search your notes when you need the explanation again. On Pro, a connected assistant can retrieve your saved reference material to help compare sources. Keep checking the originals when the distinction between two passages depends on details outside the captured selections.
