Savebase for Journalists

Bookmark manager for journalists

Keep the lead connected to its source.

Reporting produces a mix of leads, published statements and background reading. Savebase helps journalists organize that public research by story and verification status. Keep a note explaining what a source establishes, what remains unconfirmed and which follow-up it prompts, so a saved thread does not turn into an unattributed fact in the draft.

From save to useful reference

A workflow for journalists

Notes ↗

Separate a lead from a verified finding

Add the source date, claim and verification status to each useful save. Label a public statement as a statement until you corroborate it. Notes can retain the follow-up question and the primary source you need to check, keeping your reporting logic visible as the story develops.

RSS subscriptions ↗

Maintain a focused beat reading queue

Subscribe to relevant publisher, agency or organization feeds where RSS or Atom is available. File incoming articles under a beat and source tag. This helps you revisit routine announcements without promising comprehensive monitoring of everything published about a topic.

Video transcripts ↗

Locate statements in public video sources

Request transcripts for supported saved videos so you can search a public interview or presentation. Return to the recording to confirm wording, speaker and context. A generated transcript is useful for finding a passage; it is not a substitute for quotation checking or source verification.

Bring existing references with import, review repeated URLs with duplicate removal, and keep a portable copy through JSON export. The duplicate-removal guide explains the scan's scope and deletion behavior.

Choose the plan for your workflow

RSS subscriptions, rule-based automation, webhooks, Notion and Google Sheets integrations, media backup and video transcripts require an eligible paid plan. Media backup covers eligible Instagram, Facebook, Threads and TikTok saves, with backup enabled and media successfully fetched.

Common questions from journalists

Is Savebase a forensic evidence archive?

No. Eligible social media backup can preserve successfully fetched media, but Savebase does not provide a forensic capture or chain of custody. Use your newsroom's evidence procedures when a report requires authenticated, timestamped or legally defensible preservation.

Can I use transcripts as published quotations?

Use a transcript to locate the relevant passage, then check it against the original recording before quoting. Verify speaker identity and context through your reporting process. The saved video and your note should retain the trail back to the source.
