I've tested more bookmark managers than I'd like to admit — hosted, self-hosted, browser-native, and everything in between — usually because I was personally trying to solve the same problem: too many tabs, too many saves, no system that actually stuck.

My writing focuses on the practical differences that actually matter when picking a bookmark manager: does it just store links, or does it back up real content; does search actually work at scale; and is the tool still going to exist in two years. I've watched enough small tools shut down to care a lot about that last one.

If you're trying to decide between browser bookmarks, a dedicated app, or something self-hosted, I've probably already made that decision badly once and learned from it.
